Vast is looking for a Programmer, reporting to the Senior Manager, Advanced Manufacturing, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Shift hours:
- First Shift: 5:30AM-4:00PM
Responsibilities:
- Program complex parts for our mills and/or lathes.
- Proficiency in Hypermill and/or Esprit.
- Work with tooling suppliers to determine the best tools for the job.
- Understand how to ramp parts from development to production.
- Reduce machine time per part when possible.
- Ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings.
- Increase overall efficiency of machining operations.
- Procure tooling necessary for jobs.
- Effectively work as a team and pass on workload to the following shift.
- Support and foster a strong team environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6+ years of CNC machining experience and 3+ years of programming experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Working knowledge of GD&T.
- Familiarity with inspection tools.
- Understanding of CAD and CAM software.
- Understanding of feeds and speeds.
- Knowledge of G-Code.
- Strong Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to ensure quality parts are produced from programs being created/proved out.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- College or Trade school certificate.
- Working knowledge of Additive Manufactured Parts.
- Multi-axis Mill, Lathe, Mill-Turn and Turn-Mill knowledge.
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestone.

- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted.
- Prolonged periods of standing, pushing/pulling, lifting, and operating machine.
Pay Range:
- Programmer I: $28.00 - $39.00
- Programmer II: $35.00 - $44.00
- Senior Programmer: $42.00 - $53.00
