Associate General Counsel

As Associate General Counsel, you will be a generalist helping to facilitate all aspects of legal operations and build the legal function from scratch. You will engage as a collaborative partner with the General Counsel and business and engineering leads in managing and scaling the legal function. The position will involve broad exposure to a range of subject matters, substantial responsibility, a high degree of autonomy, and early opportunities for promotion and the development of subject-matter expertise.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Managing corporate governance issues.
  • Assisting with negotiating commercial contracts, leases, and other agreements.
  • Coordinating with the engineering teams to ensure legal compliance across nuclear, environmental, export-control, and other groups.
  • Building and scaling various functions, including contract management.
  • Assisting the General Counsel with a variety of projects as needs arise.

Basic Qualifications

  • J.D. degree.
  • 3+ years of legal experience (including clerkships).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Subject-matter expertise in corporate law is a plus, but hiring for this role will prioritize elite, adaptable candidates who are able to move quickly, solve problems, and provide actionable, pragmatic advice to business and technical personnel within the organization.

Additional Requirements

  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • This position is based in Los Angeles, CA and requires being onsite full-time – hybrid and remote work will not be considered

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $150,000–$200,000 annually.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
