Purpose
The Accounts Payable Specialist will manage high-volume invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliation activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payments. This role will also support month-end close activities and help drive process improvements within the AP function.
The Role
- Invoice & Payment Processing
- Review, code, and process high-volume and complex supplier invoices
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts (3-way match)
- Resolve discrepancies with vendors, Procurement, and internal stakeholders
- Prepare and process ACH, wire, and electronic payments
- Maintain vendor payment terms and ensure timely disbursements
- Month-End & Reporting
- Support month-end close, accruals, and reconciliations
- Prepare AP aging reports and payment analysis
- Reconcile AP subledger to the General Ledger
- Assist with audit requests and documentation
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Serve as a subject matter expert for ERP/AP systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion)
- Troubleshoot payment or invoice issues and support system enhancements
- Recommend and implement process improvements and automation
- Assist with testing system upgrades and new functionality
- Team Support & Leadership
- Provide guidance and training to junior AP staff
- Review work for accuracy and completeness
- Act as backup for AP Supervisor/Manager when needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- 5+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience, preferably in a high-volume environment
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Cloud ERP, SAP, or similar)
- Proven experience processing complex invoices, prepayments, and PO-based transactions
- Experience with three-way match (PO, receipt, invoice) and resolving invoice discrepancies
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable processes, including:
- Invoice processing
- Prepayments and prepayment applications
- Vendor reconciliations
- Expense reports
- Payment processing (ACH, wire, checks)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Ability to review PO terms and contract payment structures.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with vendors, buyers, and internal teams.
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
- This position is located onsite in our Torrance, CA office.
Compensation
At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels S4 as evaluated through our interview process.
- S04 / AP Specialist: $94,610 - $130,090
